Two wall assembly systems leverage performance, energy efficiency and air sealing capabilities of spray polyurethane foam insulation

The Woodlands, TX (May 30, 2023) – Huntsman Building Solutions, the global leader in high-performance, sustainable building envelope solutions, announced it will showcase two of its innovative wall assembly design solutions at the upcoming AIA Conference on Architecture 2023 to be held June 7 through 10 at San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Developed specifically as solutions for architects and builders, the two wall assembly designs include D-Max Wall, a solution for continuous insulation requirements which allows spray polyurethane foam to be installed from the interior, and W-Wall, a fire-rated load-bearing wall solution utilized for partition walls between attached multifamily and townhome units.

D-Max Wall and W-Wall will both be showcased alongside Huntsman Building Solutions’ innovative spray polyurethane foam options in the company’s booth #6078 in the convention’s exhibit hall.

“Both D-Max Wall and W-Wall leverage the performance, air sealing and many other capabilities of spray polyurethane foam insulation while providing architects with innovative solutions for the structure,” says Maxime Duzyk, global director of building science and engineering with Huntsman Building Solutions. “Our team look forward to assisting architects and attendees at the event.”

D-Max Wall Assembly is a solution for continuous insulation, which allows closed-cell spray polyurethane foam (SPF) insulation to be installed from the interior while managing thermal bridging of the studs and structure. The assembly utilizes Huntsman Building Solutions’ HEATLOK HFO Pro closed-cell SPF insulation, which provides three key functions: insulation, air barrier and vapor barrier in a single product application. The wall assembly eliminates construction delays caused by inclement weather conditions, allowing contractors to continue installation during cold winter months.

W-Wall is the first two-hour fire-rated load-bearing, partition wall assembly tested and approved for use with open-cell spray foam. Huntsman Building Solutions’ open-cell SPF insulation solutions have been certified for use with the assembly, providing sustainable sound attenuation, air sealing and energy efficiency capabilities as part of the assembly solution. The assembly design meaningfully reduces construction and labor costs and provides comfort and ease of mind to residents living on either side of it.
