Open-Cell Spray Foam Insulation
Insulating Interior Applications
HBS open-cell spray foam is designed to deliver a superior air barrier than traditional insulation for walls, floors, and roofs.
Our spray foam insulation adheres to most construction surfaces and expands up to 100 times its original size to create an airtight building envelope. We pioneered the development of open-cell spray foam insulation through innovative technology, and it is now a mainstream building material in many countries.

Open-cell Spray Foam Insulation
Our collection of innovative spray foam insulation isn’t limited to open-cell, allowing for holistic insulation throughout the property.
A higher density foam than open cell, closed-cell spray foam insulation forms a solid air and vapor barrier which outperforms traditional insulation and provides enhanced thermal resistance. Typically used in commercial, residential, industrial, and agricultural buildings, closed-cell spray foam is the choice of many specifiers worldwide.

Open-Cell Spray Foam FAQ’s
Get the answers to some frequently asked questions around open-cell spray foam insulation below.
-
What is the difference between open and closed cell spray foam?
Open-cell and closed-cell spray foam differ in their structure and properties. Open-cell has a lighter and less dense construction that allows air to fill the gaps in the cells, whilst closed-cell is denser and rigid with a higher R-value that makes it more ideal for areas prone to dampness.
-
Is open-cell better than closed-cell?
Each type of insulation has different strengths and specific use-cases, and one is not necessarily better than the other. Whilst open-cell may be better in some applications such as noise reduction, closed-cell will be a better solution for another like thermal resistance. To understand more, read our blog.

What are the advantages of open-cell spray foam?
The advantages of open-cell spray foam insulation over traditional methods begin with the fact that the R-value of open-cell is much greater than that of mineral wool and fibreglass. It also has enhanced durability and will continue to perform for decades to come, where traditional methods will likely degrade and sag over time.
